Lustrous Horizon
Chapter Five
Harold sees two parties in front of him. One with the Lustrous Goblin and the Iridescent Unicorn standing side by side. The other is his partner Edgar being beaten down by four men.
Seeing that he might not be able to fight at a disadvantage, Harold turns to the four men and throws a Leaf Spellbomb at them, but it is intercepted by the Goblin's Wind Claw. Harold transforms into his Wolf form and lunges towards the four men, but is stopped by the Unicorn's Iridescent Lightning Charge. Harold was barely able to dodge the attack. Users with Wind and Lightning Midrash have enhanced physical speed.
Edgar, while getting beaten down by the four men, tries to roll himself out of the beatdown, but is prevented by the men's legs. Due to his Metal Midrash, his durability is enhanced, but it won't hold for long. Without much choices, he allows himself to get kicked while he creates two Chain Spellbombs and desperately throws them above the men's head. The Spellbombs explode into silvery-gray metal particles. The four men are knocked out. Edgar, breathing heavily, stands up only to be met by the Unicorn's Iridescent Lightning Charge. It seems like the Unicorn wasn't aiming for Harold but for Edgar. Without any time to react, the Unicorn's horn pierces Edgar in his left arm. He screams out in pain as the blood bursts out from his arm.
The Lustrous Goblin also ignores Harold and goes straight to Edgar with an attack called Lustrous Wind Claw. Harold, still in his Wolf form, tries to intercept the attack, but only manages to bite down on the Goblin's right leg with a Leaf Fang. The Goblin's attack still connects on Edgar, but only just a scratch. Harold bites down harder and uses all his strength to whip the Goblin to the side. The Goblin turns his head to Harold and coats both his claws with his fluorescent green Wind Midrash. He attacks Harold with two Lustrous Wind Claws, but Harold, in his Wolf form, senses the incoming attacks and counters with a Ferocious Leaf Spellbomb.
The Unicorn sees that Edgar is already injured, so he decides to go after Harold for revenge. With his horn charged with Lightning Midrash, he launches himself straight at Harold's stomach. Harold sees this and quickly pulls the Goblin in front to use him as a shield. Unable to stop himself, the Unicorn accidentally pierces the Goblin's left arm with his horn.
The Goblin grabs the Unicorn by the horn and throws him towards Edgar. The large body of the Unicorn hits Edgar and knocks him into the river. Edgar quickly realizes that the river current is carrying him down south. Due to his injured left arm being pierced, he struggles to swim back onto land. The Unicorn transforms back into Olivier and glares at the Goblin.
"You want the Leaf Wolf?" asked the Goblin. "Fine! I'll go after the weakling!" He jumps into the river and follows Edgar downstream.
Harold tries to go after him, but is stopped by the Unicorn. At this point, Stella and Cecilia can be seen walking from the western side of the bridge. The Wolf transforms back into his human self.
"Lily! Cecilia!" Harold called out. "Can you please handle the Unicorn here? I gotta go after Edgar!" Without waiting for a response, Harold jumps into the river to follow after Edgar and the Goblin.
The Unicorn tries to stop Harold, but is stopped by the combined effort of the mother-daughter duo.
The Goblin drags the injured Edgar onto land and then throws him into a home made of wood and straws. Harold sees this and runs into the home. He sees the Goblin using a Lustrous Wind Claw on Edgar.'s throat. The damage from the claws was deep and Edgar was desperately covering the throat wound with both his hands.
Harold lunges towards the Goblin and attacks him with Ferocious Leaf Fang by temporarily transforming his head into his Wolf's head. He bites down on the Goblin left shoulder and uses his strength to toss the Goblin onto the wall. An Orb resembling an Eagle falls down from one of the shelves.
Seeing his partner losing his life, Harold frantically looks around for something to help with the blood loss. An idea suddenly pops into his head. The Orb that fell onto the floor is actually Maiden's Eagle. Harold picks it up and inserts it into Edgar's heart. The look on Edgar's face is that of fear, panic, and confusion.
The Goblin gets up and lunges towards Harold, but it does no good because Harold immediately turns around and shoves a Ferocious Leaf Spellbomb into the Goblin's chest. The Spellbomb explodes into green leaf particles.
Since Edgar now has Maiden's Eagle, the Construct grants him the ability to passively regenerate any wounds as long as it's not a severed limb. With the wound on his throat almost healed, he throws a Chain Spellbomb at the Goblin. The damage from both Harold's and Edgar's respective attack, the Goblin is knocked out.
Edgar touches his throat and realizes that the wound is completely healed. "Thanks, Harold! I thought I was gonna die."
"Yeah," Harold said. "We were lucky that this guy had a Natural Construct lying around."
The Goblin regained consciousness after a few seconds and transformed back into his human self. Edgar, with his newfound strength, walks over to him and starts to repeatedly punch him until blood starts to spill from the Goblin's mouth and nose. Harold stands by with a smile on his face.
"G-Go!" The Goblin tried to talk while getting punched by Edgar. "S-S-South!"
Edgar stops punching.
The Goblin spits out some blood. "Find the Brilliant Harpy! She's the bookkeeper for Fogbow!"
Harold scoffs. "So you can talk, huh? Thanks for the information, but we can't let you go. We're sending you and that Unicorn guy to our town's police jail."
The Goblin smirks. "Heh! If you can catch me!" He rolls around and runs for the door. Due to his speed, Harold and Edgar are unable to keep up.
The boys go outside and see a woman with blonde hair, glacial blue eyes, in a woman's business suit. The Goblin stops as soon as he lays his eyes on her.
"Henriette?!" asked the Goblin.
The woman gives him an icy glare and then transforms her right arm into sharp wings coated with Ice Midrash. She pierces the Goblin's throat with Ice Wing. Harold and Edgar try to stop her, but she continues to pierce holes into the Goblin's throat until he finally dies of blood loss. His Construct's ability to heal wounds did not have time to regenerate the wounds.
Harold and Edgar watch as the woman with the icy glare transforms into a Harpy and flies south.
"Guess we're going south to find her?" Edgar asked, but he already knew the answer.
The only reply from Harold is a simple nod.
