Midday Flame
Chapter Five
The short tanned dude had transformed into a Goat and is now charging towards Bruno. Caught off guard by this, Bruno is knocked back and takes some damage. The Goat steps back a few feet and begins to charge at Bruno again. This time, Bruno is prepared to fight back. He throws a Water Spellbomb at the Goat, but the Goat unknowingly dodges it by continuing to charge at Bruno. Seeing the Goat's horn, Bruno grabs the two horns, gathers his strength to lift and throws the Goat off the ground. As the Goat tries to compose himself, Bruno creates a stronger version of his Water Spellbomb to attack the Goat. This move is called Rain Spellbomb. It collides with the Goat's stomach and explodes into rain particles.
Bruno breathes in and out loudly due to his frustration with the fight. He is mad that his breakfast was delayed, and the fight had caused another delay. Looking around for his breakfast, he sees that the two grilled squids were dirtied by the sand.
By this time, the Goat had recovered enough energy to run away. Despite his frustration, Bruno goes after the runaway Goat.
As Stella and Lyla exited the inn, they had seen a scene in which Bruno and a Goat were fighting.
"I think that's Bruno," Stella said. "And why is fighting a Goat?"
"The better question is what did the Goat do to piss off Bruno?" Lyla said.
"He's coming this way!" Stella waved to Bruno. "Why so mad?"
"That guy happened!" Bruno answered and continued to walk after the Goat.
Stella gives a mischievous smile. "Let's go see the drama unfold! Hihi!"
Lyla frowns. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"
It is now eight or nine o'clock in the morning. Harold watches the house with the orange door when it opens and Chang and Ming walk out the door.
Harold hides behind nearby objects to avoid being seen by the siblings. He quietly gets closer to overhear their conversation as they start their walk to the beach.
"Let's go to Kang and Fen. We need to take on the foreigners before they attack us!" Chang said.
"We still don't know if Fen is telling the truth or not." Ming said.
Chang clicks his tongue. "Tsk! They beat up Fen! I don't need to know anything else."
Ming rolls her eyes. "Ugh! You guys are overreacting."
The siblings continue to walk toward the direction of the open bar. Harold continues to follow.
"Hey look! It's Kang!" Ming exclaimed.
Harold is confused. Ming called the Goat by the name of Kang. This must mean that the Goat is named Kang.
"See! Looks like they got to Kang already!" Chang said angrily.
"Let's hear him first." Ming said.
The Goat transforms back into his human self.
"H-h-he's here!" Kang said and pointed to a muscular young man walking towards him from behind.
Harold turns to see who Kang was pointing to. The muscular young man in question is Bruno and behind him are Stella and Lyla.
"Looks like we're all here!" Harold said, smiled at Bruno, and nodded his head towards Stella and Lyla.
"Kang! What happened?!" Chang asked.
Kang points his finger at Bruno. "HIM! He beat up me! Fen was right!"
Chang turns to Ming. "See! I told you! We need to team up on them!"
"Harold!" Stella smiled. "I think Bruno beat up that guy over there."
"I did. He made me drop my breakfast. I'm hungry!" Bruno confirmed.
Chang is angry because Harold and his friends are having a conversation acting like nothing has happened.
"Hey! Don't ignore us! We're gonna get you for this!" Chang said.
Harold frowns. "How? You didn't stand a chance against me yesterday."
"I wasn't ready and now I am!" Chang said.
Before Stella realized what happened, she saw an orange Snake with orange fire fangs preparing to bite Harold. Not only there was a Snake, there was also an orangish Horse with amber eyes charging at Harold.
"Hey! Where did the Snake and Horse come from?" Stella asked out loud.
Harold dodges the Snake's Fire Fang attack, but is hit by the Horse's tackle.
"The guy transformed into the Snake, and the girl transformed into the Horse." Lyla answered.
The Horse coats her head with amber-colored Fire Midrash and charges at Harold. This move is called Fire Charge. Lyla quickly lunges at the Horse and kicks the Horse in the stomach with her right leg. Stella throws a Light Spellbomb at the Horse. The Spellbomb hits the Horse on the stomach and disperses into bright light particles. The Horse is down.
The Snake tries to attack Harold with a Fire Fang, but Harold punches the Snake in the face. The Snake falls to the ground. Harold then creates a stronger version of his Wood Spellbomb called Leaf Spellbomb and throws it at the Snake. The Spellbomb explodes into green leaf particles and knocks out the Snake.
"Alright! We need to talk." Harold said to Kang, Chang, and Ming. After not getting any response from the three locals, he glares at them. "My friends and I can continue our attack."
"Well? Tell them!" Ming said to Chang and Kang.
"Tsk! My friend told me there would be light-skinned foreigners coming to attack us, so I thought we would attack you first." Kang explained.
"Is this friend named Fen?" Harold asked and Kang nodded his head. "Listen, kid, we didn't attack him for no reason. He attacked my friend and sister for no reason, they acted in self-defense." Harold nods towards Stella and Lyla. Kang's eyes lit up, surprised that Fen lost a battle to two girls. He looks at Chang next. "And you? What did Fen tell you?"
"It was Kang who told me. And when I saw Kang beaten up, I thought it was true." Chang said.
"We're looking for a guy with jade-colored eyes. Have you guys seen him?" Harold asked. Again, all three locals were silent. Harold sighs. "Is that a yes and you guys don't want to say anything?"
"Fine! I'll tell them. We don't owe him anything." Ming said to Chang and then looked at Harold. "I saw him walking northwest from here. There is a farming village called Shizi Farm there."
"Thanks for that. We'll be leaving now." Harold said.
And with that, Stella and her friends make their way to Shizi Farm. That is the end of this arc!
