Midnight Droplet

Chapter Five

Shun had transformed into a large black Pig with folded ears.

Stella looks at Lyla, panicking. "I guess we fight now?"

"Yeah, it doesn't like we have a choice now." Lyla responded.

Stella activates her Sura to bring forth her White Sword. The Sword is held by her right hand. The Pig charges at Stella and Lyla with an attack called Droplet Charge.

Lyla notices and jumps out of the way. "Look out, Lily!"

It is too late. Stella does not respond in time. The Pig's head collides with Stella's body and knocks the White Sword out of her hand. Lyla tosses a Swift Spellbomb at the Pig, but it is countered by her own Spellbomb. This one is an upgraded Water Spellbomb called Droplet Spellbomb. Lyla's Spellbomb explodes into yellow lightning particles while the Pig's Spellbomb explodes into black water particles.

During the aftermath of the two explosions, Lyla lunges toward the Pig and attacks with a Swift Kick onto the target's head. The Pig doesn't take much damage.

Stella finally realizes her bearings. She tosses an upgraded form of her Light Spellbomb called Rainbow Spellbomb at the Pig's body. It explodes into particles with colors of the rainbow. The Pig takes some damage and squeals out in pain.

"It's working!" Stella said excitedly.

"Yeah!" Lyla said. "If I can hit her with my Midrash, she'll take more damage."

The Pig spits out a Droplet Spellbomb at both Stella and Lyla. Because for some reason, Stella and Lyla were standing next to each.

Lyla notices the incoming Spellbomb first. "Look out!" She jumps out of the way.

Stella, on the other hand, isn't quick enough to react. She takes the damage as the Droplet Spellbomb explodes into black water particles.

Lyla sees this and jumps back to Stella. "Are you okay, Lily?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine." Stella said as she struggled to stand up.

"I'll keep her-"

The Pig takes advantage of this and charges at Stella and Lyla with a Droplet Charge.

"She's coming again!" Stella shouted out and barely jumped out of the way.

Lyla had already jumped to dodge the attack. Since both she and Stella dodged the incoming attack and with the Pig running at full speed, she wasn't able to stop in time.

In terms of distance, Stella is closer so she is able to throw a Rainbow Spellbomb at close range. The Spellbomb explodes into seven colors of the rainbow. Lyla tosses her Swift Spellbomb at the Pig and it explodes into yellow lightning particles.

"I got her!" Lyla exclaimed.

The Pig takes massive damage and transforms back into Shun. She is now lying on the ground unconscious. Stella and Lyla are relieved and return their breathing to normal.

Bruno, in his Bear form, had swiped the Bull on his side using Rain Claw. The Bull takes some damage and tries to run away, but then quickly turns around and charges his two horns with Earth Midrash for another Clod Charge.

Bull lunges toward Bruno for the attack. Seeing this coming, Bruno is able to dodge the attack and counters with several Rain Claws.

Wanting to end the battle already, Bruno continues to attack and does not allow the Bull anytime to fight back. After about ten or so Rain Claws, the Bull is knocked out. The Bear transforms back into Bruno who is panting from exerting himself.

Zhong, in his Rat form, had attacked Harold, in his Wolf form, with a Douse Tail. This attack involved the user gathering Midrash around their tail and then whipping it at the opponent. Harold takes the hit. The Rat does not hesitate to continue the attack against Harold. Following up from this attack, the Rat continues with Douse Charge.

Harold is knocked back and slides across the snow. He quickly shakes his head to wipe the snow away from his face. Noticing that the Rat is preparing for another attack, Harold tries to go for another Leaf Fang, but the Rat quickly dodges and counters with another Douse Tail.

After dodging a few attacks from the Rat, Harold finally sees the pattern of his opponent. With this in mind, he quietly coats his fangs with Wood Midrash energy. Sensing an incoming Douse Tail, Harold immediately focuses on the Rat's tail and uses all his strength to bite down with Leaf Fang.

With the Rat's tail between his fangs, Harold uses his raw strength to whip the Rat around onto the ground several times. Finally letting go of the Rat's tail, Harold lands a direct attack on the Rat with a Leaf Spellbomb. The battle is finally over. The Rat has begun to transform back into Zhong.

On the snow lay Shun, Zhong and Lan and standing next to them are Harold, Stella, Lyla and Bruno.

Harold notices Zhong regaining consciousness. "You're awake!"

Shun wakes up right after. "It looks like that Jade Cat was right about you guys."

"Speaking of which, where is he?" Harold asked. "He was just here."

"Yeah, he was here and now he's gone." Bruno said.

Harold turns to Shun. "Anyway, I'm only looking for the Jade Cat. My friends and I don't have beef with you guys. Can we talk?"

"Fine!" Shun clicked her lips. "Just make it quick!"

Harold explained to Shun everything that had happened so far. Zhong listened while Lan didn't pay much attention.

"Well, in my defense," Shun said. "You guys did start trouble with us first."

"Huh?" Harold said. "My cousin and I were attacked by the Jade Cat and then your friends over there attacked us, too."

Zhong chuckles to himself. "It was the spur of the moment."

"It's all good now." Harold said. "Just out of curiosity, when did you guys meet him?"

"He came after Zhong and I noticed you were watching us." Shun explained. "He said the white Wolf is dangerous. After talking with Stella and Lyla, I had my suspicions that he was lying and then I saw you guys fighting."

"Well, thanks for hearing us out. Do you know anything about him? We would like to get back the portrait."

Shun turns to Zhong. "Anything on him?"

"Yes," Zhong answered. "He lives in the capital. I don't have an address or which district, but he is definitely from the capital. It's called Longyan Town. Just go south until you reach it."

With that said, Shun led Stella and her friends to the entrance of the snow mountain village where they said their goodbyes. Stella, Harold, Lyla, and Bruno head south to Longyan Town. And that concludes this arc.
